They just had a birthday party for my cousin Jonathan.

Most of the family went straight home, but Paula and Alethea stopped to get gas in their green Geo Prizm.

After filling up, the two girls started home. The two were driving on highway 142 near Myrtle MO when head lights came speedily over the hill in their lane! Paula slammed on the brakes, but it was too late. The drunk driver smashed into them in a head on collision. The force of the other vehicle pushed the Geo Prizm backward almost 20 ft! The front of the car was crushed into the windshield and both of the girls were trapped inside of the car.

Paula could hear her sister screaming in pain. She tried to get her cell phone, but her right arm was broken and she could not find the cell phone with her left hand; they would just have to wait for someone to call it in. Paula started crying out to God, that he would help them, they were trapped in the car and she could not even call 911. Just a few minutes later an off duty first responder drove up on the accident on her way home.

Meanwhile the rest of the family was at the house wondering where the girls might be. Soon my uncle Robert got the kids in the car to go look for them, leaving my Aunt Lydia, the baby Lydia and Jonathan at home. Uncle Robert drove about eight miles from the house and saw emergency lights everywhere. Pulling off the road with that very deep sick feeling in his stomach, he waited hoping that his two daughters were just pulled off the road because they saw the accident. Then Uncle Robert saw Alethea being put into the helicopter. There was no mistake; they had been in a very dangerous car accident.

When the emergency team got to the accident the car was so smashed they had to cut the top of the car completely off and cut the floorboard in a few places so they could stretch the car out to get the girls out. They immediately flew Paula to Springfield; she had a little bleeding to the brain and broken bones, but was fairly stable. Alethea on the other hand was not doing very well, on the way to Springfield her pulse stopped for about 30-40 min, so they took her to West Plains first to stabilize her.

Doctors at West Plains gave Alethea a blood transfusion which stabilized her enough to get her to Springfield. There was probably not one doctor or nurse that expected her to make the trip, but we know a living God that is still answering prayers. At the St. Johns hospital in Springfield, they were able to take a look at all of the injuries both of the girls had obtained.

Paula had a broken right arm, broken right leg and a little bleeding to the brain, but they were able to get that stopped.

Alethea had a shattered pelvis bone, broken legs, internal bleeding, and one of her kidneys were severely damaged and the other was having trouble. God has been answering prayers from all over the world for these young girls.

Paula is doing much better and they have set her broken bones and she is in rehab already!

Alethea is doing much better also. They were able to get her internal bleeding to stop, she is able to respond more and react to the doctors commands. She is going into have surgery on the 26th of January and they will go from there.

We thank all of you for all of your prayers, and we ask that you keep praying for the girls and their family as they make their recovery. Although they will have a long and hard road ahead of them, we thank God for working wonders for them, and that it is only because of all of those precious prayers from all of you.

Breeder Buddies Expands By John Schamel (Age 16)

http://www.theschamelfamily.com/1/post/2012/01/breeder-buddies-expands-by-john-schamel-age-16.html

http://www.theschamelfamily.com/1/post/2012/01/breeder-buddies-expands-by-john-schamel-age-16.html#comments

Uncategorized

  [...]

For the last several years, we have been breeding our two Labradors, Princess and Buddy. It was the smallest litter yet! Five. We decided it is time for Princess to retire, since she is 9 years old. We wanted to keep Breeder Buddies going, so we were looking for a replacement for Princess, when we found and unexpected answer.

A lady from Albuquerque, New Mexico was selling, not just one female, but six females and two males. One named Little Ann was due to have puppies on the 11th of January. Dad, Ben and I decided that since the dogs were only $2,100 that we would take all them.

We rented a U-Haul and on Saturday the 14th of January we went to Albuquerque and picked up 8 new dogs. The one that was going to have puppies on the 11th had not had them yet, but looked like she could pop at any time. I was afraid the stress of moving might make her go into labor, but God spared us the trouble.

On Sunday the 15th David went to the barn and 2 of the dogs dug out. It was freezing cold the night before. So When I went to the barn I saw that 3 had froze. Ben came down and prayed for the puppies. Two hours later we checked on the puppies and all of the puppies were alive. Now we have 23 dogs. 13 of the dogs are puppies and 10 adults.

Two years ago dad would never have let us have 23 dogs at one time! We were able to check in and get settled before going to dinner at 7pm.

Dinner was at a nice little Italian restaurant. It was a perfect picture of Italy. We tried almost every thing on the menu. From fried pizza to Ice cream with hot fudge. Laughing and telling stories all during dinner.

After dinner we had to take three taxis back to the hotel. Amber, Ben, our friend Miriam and I went in the second one. Our taxi got lost. I fell asleep, but Amber said that that the taxi driver was going 70 km when the speed limit was 30 km!

Thursday we met up with the rest of the group. Time does not permit to tell you every thing we did so I will just tell you my highlights.

My favorites in Rome were the catacombs, night tour, coliseum and Sunday church. The catacombs were pretty amazing! You could have easily gotten lost. The paths were pretty narrow and there were so many passages. After dinner that night we went on a night tour! It was incredible to see Rome at night. We were able to see the coliseum from the outside on our night tour! We got to see the inside of Coliseum the next day. It was sad thinking of Christians being killed there.

On Sunday, we attended a small church in Rome. It was nice to meet Christians in Rome. After Church we had lunch with the congregation. We were able to have lots of fellowship.

Our last day in Rome was spent in Vatican City and Saint Peter’s Basilica which took most of the day. I never realized how rich the Catholics were.

Off to Israel! We found our tour guide Ruben and bus driver Azar. After loading bags in the bus we headed for the Blue Bay Hotel, most of the rooms were like a regular hotel, but some of the rooms were outside side by side. We got rooms outside.

The seventeenth of November was interesting. The Mount Beatitudes was amazing to see! It was more of a hill, at least compared to the Colorado Mountains, but it was a pretty big hill.

Capernaum was the next stop. Capernaum was the place was Jesus called his disciples. It was awesome to visit, because I might have stepped the same place Jesus stepped! Lunch was one of the most interesting things today. We went to a spot where they served Saint Peter's fish. The owner gave a presentation. During the presentation he had a fish and, French kissed it. It was really gross. It spoiled my apatite. I could hardly eat my food.

Next was a peaceful boat ride on The Lake of Galilee. I could easily see how Jesus fell asleep. It was fun. During the boat ride we listened to a Brother Branham tape. I forget what it was called, but he was talking about the disciples, and before the storm came that Jesus walked on the water, and they were each telling when they first believed Christ. I really liked listening to it.

After the boat ride Brother George Smith (our tour guide) surprised us by taking us to a chocolate factory! They let us have a sample. It was good chocolate.

We followed Brother Gorge all the way to the gates of hell. :) Really it was the temple of Pan in Caesura Phillpi, there was a temple for sacrifice which they called The Gates Of Hell. There was a little spring where they threw the sacrifice, and the water from little spring would go under rocks to make a small creek, and if blood from the sacrifice would come out thru the creek the sacrifice was supposed to be accepted. So when Jesus was talking to Peter and said,"upon this rock I will build my church and the gates on hell will not prevail against it.' that it what he was referring to.

The 9/11 Memorial near Jerusalem.

Last time my parents and older siblings went to Israel they went to the city of Dan, well it was too rainy so instead we went to Bannas Falls. Bannas Falls is a really pretty waterfall! Gods design is so beautiful! At the end of the day Ruben took us to a diamond factory. The diamonds were so pretty! But they were so expensive.

Gideon Spring was fun to visit. It was not a very big spring, it would be hard trying to fit more than a hundred people around it. Last time dad went to Gideon spring he drank some of the water and started feeling sick. If you ever go there, you might not want to drink the water.

The next stop was the Jordan River. We were probably really close to where Jesus was baptized. It was really the muddy river of Jordon. After the Jordan River we headed to Bethlehem. We stopped at a olive wood shop. A Girl named Jennifer McCullough bought me an olive wood cross with a dove in the middle!! That was really nice of her!

On Sunday we had a small church service. Then went to The Garden of Gethsemane! After Titus seized Jerusalem he ordered all the trees a around Jerusalem be cut down. For some reason there were eight trees not cut down. I think it was God. But that is where we believe the garden of Gethsemane was. I could just imagine what Jesus would have felt like. Also on Sunday we went thru Hezekiah's tunnel! That was so fun! The water went about to my waist! I can not explain it but it was so fun!

Monday we headed for the biblical gardens. We got to learn what a cistern was. A cistern is almost like a well. Instead of digging really deep to try to find water, they dug a hole pretty deep hole then when it rains it fills it up. Then they can draw water from it, to take home. On Monday we also went to a nine- eleven memorial. It is the only other memorial that names all the people killed.

Next was the holocaust museum. I think every person needs to see it. Yes it’s sad but good to see. now when people tell me "Your skin and bones" I can tell them what real skin and bones is.

Tuesday we went to Masada. Masada is a mountain that it would have been very hard to get to back when King Hared built a palace for protection just in case somebody turned on him. He never lived there. But after Titus seized Jerusalem many fled to Masada. The roman army came after them. They were not capable of climbing the mountain. So they built a ramp. It took them three years. Before they got in the city, the men in the city decided that they all rather die then have there children made slaves, there wives taken and them killed. So each man killed there families Ten chosen men killed the other men and one of the men killed the others then killed him self. One woman and a few Children hid and were not killed. And told what had happened. You can read more about that in “Josephus the Essential Works”. They have cleared a trail up to the mountain, added stairs and now instead of going on the trail you can ride in a tram up there.

Next was the Dead Sea! That was spectacular! You almost didn’t feel wet. You walked and when you could not touch your legs automatically started flouting up. It was just amazing.

Our last day in Israel, we went to the Wailing Wall, and the Garden Tomb. At the Wailing Wall they gave us about 20 minutes. So I went and prayed at the Wailing Wall. I know God can hear you wherever you are. But I did go pray at the wall. The Garden Tomb was an amazing experience. The Tomb Is Empty! We serve a living God. We are not sure that it was the same tomb Jesus was in. But the important thing is Jesus is risen!!

Our last night in Israel all the youth spent in one of the hotel rooms having a good bye party. The group (besides our family and friend from Colorado) had to leave at 1:30 so we stayed up tell they had to leave. It was so fun spending time with the other youth!! It was sad parting with them. I believe I will spend eternity with them. And I can't wait!!!!!

Thanksgiving was spent in London! We visited Buckingham Palace and got to see them change out their Guard! They marched really funny! We Also got to see the Westminster Abey! We were not able to go in it. We got to ride on the London Eye too!! The London Eye is a big Ferris wheel that goes about 400 feet in the air. It takes about 30 min to go all the way around. But you get a really good view of London. Dinner was at another Italian restaurant.

The next day we returned home. I was sure glad to see my younger siblings! I hope I can go again some time!

Harmony in the Desert By David Schamel (Age 14)

http://www.theschamelfamily.com/1/post/2012/01/harmony-in-the-dessert-by-david-schamel-age-14.html

http://www.theschamelfamily.com/1/post/2012/01/harmony-in-the-dessert-by-david-schamel-age-14.html#comments

Uncategorized

Harmony in the Desert is a place where people go to sing, meet new people and see sights. If that first baby had lived, it would have been only 2 months old, and the trip to Israel and all the touring would not have been possible. Also, we were expecting the twins before the other child would have been born.
