We can't wait to hear from you! ~The Schamel Children Little Lydia fussed and wriggled. She was so exhausted from a long Christmas day at her Papa’s. My cousin, Priscilla, rocked, patted and coaxed till Lydia calmed down. Priscilla had just got Lydia to sleep when she and her sister, Alethea, heard popping sounds and smelled smoke. Everyone else in the house was already sleeping, but thanks to a cranky baby, Priscilla and Alethea were still awake. Alethea jumped out of bed and opened the garage door to see what was going on. “DADDY THERE IS A FIRE IN THE GARAGE!!” My uncle thought he could put it all out, but then he saw that a lot of the fire was up in the attic, so, he said, “Everyone get out of the house!’’ The pants my uncle had put on had all the keys to the cars, so they got all the cars out and rode on over to our place. The house burned to the ground. They didn’t get many things out of the house because the house burned so quickly. They did get Bibles, a few of their cell phones, and just about one pair of clothes. Two days later, our family went to go see the house. After it rained all the night before, the place where the house had been was still smoking from the fire. God was sure protecting my uncle’s family! If God didn’t keep Little Lydia awake, they could have all died from the smoke before they even knew there was a fire. It was late in the evening on the 17th of January when our cousins were just leaving a friends house. They just had a birthday party for my cousin Jonathan. Most of the family went straight home, but Paula and Alethea stopped to get gas in their green Geo Prizm. After filling up, the two girls started home. The two were driving on highway 142 near Myrtle MO when head lights came speedily over the hill in their lane! Paula slammed on the brakes, but it was too late. The drunk driver smashed into them in a head on collision. The force of the other vehicle pushed the Geo Prizm backward almost 20 ft! The front of the car was crushed into the windshield and both of the girls were trapped inside of the car. Paula could hear her sister screaming in pain. She tried to get her cell phone, but her right arm was broken and she could not find the cell phone with her left hand; they would just have to wait for someone to call it in. Paula started crying out to God, that he would help them, they were trapped in the car and she could not even call 911. Just a few minutes later an off duty first responder drove up on the accident on her way home. Meanwhile the rest of the family was at the house wondering where the girls might be. Soon my uncle Robert got the kids in the car to go look for them, leaving my Aunt Lydia, the baby Lydia and Jonathan at home. Uncle Robert drove about eight miles from the house and saw emergency lights everywhere. Pulling off the road with that very deep sick feeling in his stomach, he waited hoping that his two daughters were just pulled off the road because they saw the accident. Then Uncle Robert saw Alethea being put into the helicopter. There was no mistake; they had been in a very dangerous car accident. When the emergency team got to the accident the car was so smashed they had to cut the top of the car completely off and cut the floorboard in a few places so they could stretch the car out to get the girls out. They immediately flew Paula to Springfield; she had a little bleeding to the brain and broken bones, but was fairly stable. Alethea on the other hand was not doing very well, on the way to Springfield her pulse stopped for about 30-40 min, so they took her to West Plains first to stabilize her. Doctors at West Plains gave Alethea a blood transfusion which stabilized her enough to get her to Springfield. There was probably not one doctor or nurse that expected her to make the trip, but we know a living God that is still answering prayers. At the St. Johns hospital in Springfield, they were able to take a look at all of the injuries both of the girls had obtained. Paula had a broken right arm, broken right leg and a little bleeding to the brain, but they were able to get that stopped. Alethea had a shattered pelvis bone, broken legs, internal bleeding, and one of her kidneys were severely damaged and the other was having trouble. God has been answering prayers from all over the world for these young girls. Paula is doing much better and they have set her broken bones and she is in rehab already! Alethea is doing much better also. They were able to get her internal bleeding to stop, she is able to respond more and react to the doctors commands. She is going into have surgery on the 26th of January and they will go from there. We thank all of you for all of your prayers, and we ask that you keep praying for the girls and their family as they make their recovery. Although they will have a long and hard road ahead of them, we thank God for working wonders for them, and that it is only because of all of those precious prayers from all of you. For the last several years, we have been breeding our two Labradors, Princess and Buddy. Our business is called “Breeder Buddies.” Breeder Buddies has provided families with 46 loving “best friends” over the past 3 years. On December 16th Princess had her last litter of puppies. It was the smallest litter yet! Five. We decided it is time for Princess to retire, since she is 9 years old. We wanted to keep Breeder Buddies going, so we were looking for a replacement for Princess, when we found and unexpected answer. A lady from Albuquerque, New Mexico was selling, not just one female, but six females and two males. One named Little Ann was due to have puppies on the 11th of January. Dad, Ben and I decided that since the dogs were only $2,100 that we would take all them. We rented a U-Haul and on Saturday the 14th of January we went to Albuquerque and picked up 8 new dogs. The one that was going to have puppies on the 11th had not had them yet, but looked like she could pop at any time. I was afraid the stress of moving might make her go into labor, but God spared us the trouble. On Sunday the 15th David went to the barn and 2 of the dogs dug out. Ben and I were filling sick yet, out chasing dogs. What fun. On the 16th of January, Little Ann had 9 puppies. It was freezing cold the night before. So When I went to the barn I saw that 3 had froze. Ben came down and prayed for the puppies. Two hours later we checked on the puppies and all of the puppies were alive. Now we have 23 dogs. 13 of the dogs are puppies and 10 adults. Two years ago dad would never have let us have 23 dogs at one time! We don’t know exactly what we are going to do with all the dogs yet, since we really only need 3 females and 1 male. But Breeder Buddies has definitely expanded. This year David and I got the privilege of going to Rome and Israel with our Dad, Mom, the rest of my older siblings, and three friends from Colorado. After our long plane ride we got our bags and headed to the Tulip Hotel. We were able to check in and get settled before going to dinner at 7pm. Dinner was at a nice little Italian restaurant. It was a perfect picture of Italy. We tried almost every thing on the menu. From fried pizza to Ice cream with hot fudge. Laughing and telling stories all during dinner. After dinner we had to take three taxis back to the hotel. Amber, Ben, our friend Miriam and I went in the second one. Our taxi got lost. I fell asleep, but Amber said that that the taxi driver was going 70 km when the speed limit was 30 km! Thursday we met up with the rest of the group. Time does not permit to tell you every thing we did so I will just tell you my highlights. My favorites in Rome were the catacombs, night tour, coliseum and Sunday church. The catacombs were pretty amazing! You could have easily gotten lost. The paths were pretty narrow and there were so many passages. After dinner that night we went on a night tour! It was incredible to see Rome at night. We were able to see the coliseum from the outside on our night tour! We got to see the inside of Coliseum the next day. It was sad thinking of Christians being killed there. On Sunday, we attended a small church in Rome. It was nice to meet Christians in Rome. After Church we had lunch with the congregation. We were able to have lots of fellowship. Our last day in Rome was spent in Vatican City and Saint Peter’s Basilica which took most of the day. I never realized how rich the Catholics were. Off to Israel! We found our tour guide Ruben and bus driver Azar. After loading bags in the bus we headed for the Blue Bay Hotel, most of the rooms were like a regular hotel, but some of the rooms were outside side by side. We got rooms outside. The seventeenth of November was interesting. The Mount Beatitudes was amazing to see! It was more of a hill, at least compared to the Colorado Mountains, but it was a pretty big hill. Capernaum was the next stop. Capernaum was the place was Jesus called his disciples. It was awesome to visit, because I might have stepped the same place Jesus stepped! Lunch was one of the most interesting things today. We went to a spot where they served Saint Peter's fish. The owner gave a presentation. During the presentation he had a fish and, French kissed it. It was really gross. It spoiled my apatite. I could hardly eat my food. Next was a peaceful boat ride on The Lake of Galilee. I could easily see how Jesus fell asleep. It was fun. During the boat ride we listened to a Brother Branham tape. I forget what it was called, but he was talking about the disciples, and before the storm came that Jesus walked on the water, and they were each telling when they first believed Christ. I really liked listening to it. After the boat ride Brother George Smith (our tour guide) surprised us by taking us to a chocolate factory! They let us have a sample. It was good chocolate. We followed Brother Gorge all the way to the gates of hell. :) Really it was the temple of Pan in Caesura Phillpi, there was a temple for sacrifice which they called The Gates Of Hell. There was a little spring where they threw the sacrifice, and the water from little spring would go under rocks to make a small creek, and if blood from the sacrifice would come out thru the creek the sacrifice was supposed to be accepted. So when Jesus was talking to Peter and said,"upon this rock I will build my church and the gates on hell will not prevail against it.' that it what he was referring to. Last time my parents and older siblings went to Israel they went to the city of Dan, well it was too rainy so instead we went to Bannas Falls. Bannas Falls is a really pretty waterfall! Gods design is so beautiful! At the end of the day Ruben took us to a diamond factory. The diamonds were so pretty! But they were so expensive. Gideon Spring was fun to visit. It was not a very big spring, it would be hard trying to fit more than a hundred people around it. Last time dad went to Gideon spring he drank some of the water and started feeling sick. If you ever go there, you might not want to drink the water. The next stop was the Jordan River. We were probably really close to where Jesus was baptized. It was really the muddy river of Jordon. After the Jordan River we headed to Bethlehem. We stopped at a olive wood shop. A Girl named Jennifer McCullough bought me an olive wood cross with a dove in the middle!! That was really nice of her! On Sunday we had a small church service. Then went to The Garden of Gethsemane! After Titus seized Jerusalem he ordered all the trees a around Jerusalem be cut down. For some reason there were eight trees not cut down. I think it was God. But that is where we believe the garden of Gethsemane was. I could just imagine what Jesus would have felt like. Also on Sunday we went thru Hezekiah's tunnel! That was so fun! The water went about to my waist! I can not explain it but it was so fun! Monday we headed for the biblical gardens. We got to learn what a cistern was. A cistern is almost like a well. Instead of digging really deep to try to find water, they dug a hole pretty deep hole then when it rains it fills it up. Then they can draw water from it, to take home. On Monday we also went to a nine- eleven memorial. It is the only other memorial that names all the people killed. Next was the holocaust museum. I think every person needs to see it. Yes it’s sad but good to see. now when people tell me "Your skin and bones" I can tell them what real skin and bones is. Tuesday we went to Masada. Masada is a mountain that it would have been very hard to get to back when King Hared built a palace for protection just in case somebody turned on him. He never lived there. But after Titus seized Jerusalem many fled to Masada. The roman army came after them. They were not capable of climbing the mountain. So they built a ramp. It took them three years. Before they got in the city, the men in the city decided that they all rather die then have there children made slaves, there wives taken and them killed. So each man killed there families Ten chosen men killed the other men and one of the men killed the others then killed him self. One woman and a few Children hid and were not killed. And told what had happened. You can read more about that in “Josephus the Essential Works”. They have cleared a trail up to the mountain, added stairs and now instead of going on the trail you can ride in a tram up there. Next was the Dead Sea! That was spectacular! You almost didn’t feel wet. You walked and when you could not touch your legs automatically started flouting up. It was just amazing. Our last day in Israel, we went to the Wailing Wall, and the Garden Tomb. At the Wailing Wall they gave us about 20 minutes. So I went and prayed at the Wailing Wall. I know God can hear you wherever you are. But I did go pray at the wall. The Garden Tomb was an amazing experience. The Tomb Is Empty! We serve a living God. We are not sure that it was the same tomb Jesus was in. But the important thing is Jesus is risen!! Our last night in Israel all the youth spent in one of the hotel rooms having a good bye party. The group (besides our family and friend from Colorado) had to leave at 1:30 so we stayed up tell they had to leave. It was so fun spending time with the other youth!! It was sad parting with them. I believe I will spend eternity with them. And I can't wait!!!!! Thanksgiving was spent in London! We visited Buckingham Palace and got to see them change out their Guard! They marched really funny! We Also got to see the Westminster Abey! We were not able to go in it. We got to ride on the London Eye too!! The London Eye is a big Ferris wheel that goes about 400 feet in the air. It takes about 30 min to go all the way around. But you get a really good view of London. Dinner was at another Italian restaurant. The next day we returned home. I was sure glad to see my younger siblings! I hope I can go again some time! Harmony in the Desert is a place where people go to sing, meet new people and see sights. The purpose of Harmony is to get people to come together in harmony, not arguing over who believes what. At Harmony in the Desert, the singing starts at 7:00pm and goes till about 9:00pm then people fellowship for awhile after that, but on Saturday they start at 6:00pm and end earlier and after that they have a dinner for every one, It’s in Tucson, Arizona in January it goes about three or four days, at a the weather is really nice in January. I had a good time, I got to meet new friends and play wallyball with some of them which was really fun because I’d never played it before, { wallyball is like volleyball but in a big room} the singing was really good, one of my favorite songs was “I’m Drinking from a Saucer” and Amber's song “God Himself Came Down”. We also got to go to Sabino canyon and walk arrowed and see some beautiful mountains we also got to see Brother Branham’s den, which was really neat we saw the silver tip grizzle bear, 42 inch caribou, a mountain lion and lots of guns. The trip was encouraging and I think it would be encouraging for your family and I would defiantly recommend it to you. The End Billy Graham's Prayer at 90 years old 08/05/2011
Brother Jason Jackson, pastor of the Hardy Christian Tabernacle, read this in his sermon tonight and we thought we would share it with you. What a powerful prayer and sad but Biblical critique of our nation! BILLY GRAHAM Current Age: 90 He has certainly hit the "world" on the head! THIS MAN SURE HAS A GOOD VIEW OF WHAT'S HAPPENING TO OUR COUNTRY! 'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and Set us free. Amen!' With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called 'One nation under God!' TWINS! Power of a Vision Coupled with Prayer 8/5/10 It was August 9, 2009, Dale’s birthday. The previous night, we had taken the children to the Passion Play in Eureka Springs, AR on our way home from the Buildings for Babies Ranch. In the darkness of the early morning hours, Jannice was awakened by the familiar pains of labor. It had been 8 weeks since she first visited the midwife and was unable to hear a heart beat. Now, 12 weeks along, each day they prayed for a heart beat and each day she continued to carry the child, she persistently trusted that God would show Himself strong and faithful to give life and strength to this child. She would encourage herself with the Hymn of “Every Promise in the Book is Mine” and the verse in Exodus 23:26, “There shall nothing cast their young...” However, as the pains grew worse, she knew something was wrong. Eventually, she woke Amber to alert Dale of the situation. (He was in the next room with all the boys.) Just when the contractions were getting so tormenting that she was ready to have Dale take her to a hospital, the pains all of a sudden stopped. After a few hours of rest, we decided to head home. We tragically lost the baby in a dirty bathroom at truck stop somewhere in the middle of Kansas. This was not exactly the miraculous, glamorous or glorifying ending we were expecting. After such a horrifying event, it is easy to question God and wonder why He allows such things to happen. Had He not heard our prayers? Is there sin in our life, do we not have enough faith? Often discouragement follows such experiences, and to many times we begin to lose our vision. The Bible warns us that a people without vision will perish. (Pr.29:18) But, we had the hope that “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to his purpose.” (Rom 8:28) Two months later, due to attended a business conference and deciding to reset our goals, Jannice began to evaluate her desires in life. She knew from past experience that having goals and dreams in life made life more exciting and productive, and was reminded of those facts as she listened to other’s stories. She began to think seriously about what she wanted. She has been exceptionally blessed, and doesn’t lack for any worldly goods. As she pondered what she wanted, the one thing that came to mind was, “I don’t have any twins!” Not that Dale and Jannice lacked for children, God had graciously given them nine healthy, wonderful children. Yet, the desire was given her for twins. So, like anyone who has a dream, the visualization of the dream began to take shape as she searched the internet for pictures. While she searched, she considered the story of Jacob, when he made a deal with his father-in-law to get all the spotted animals as his compensation. Jacob had put rods that were spotted and striped in the watering hole of the animals so that they would look at them as they conceived. “The flocks conceived before the rods and brought forth cattle ringstraked, speckled, and spotted.” (Gen 30:39) “Hey, if it worked for animals, why wouldn’t it work for me?” She reasoned. A suitable photo was found and posted as the screen saver on her laptop. Meanwhile, Melody, our 10 year old daughter had also caught the vision for twins. (And so did some of the other children, but Melody was the most vocal.) She began praying for twins. Soon the whole family was eager for a double blessing. About the first week of December, Jannice tested positive with a home test for pregnancy. To strengthen her faith, she put the test results in a gift box to present to Dale that night, along with the photo of the twins she had on the screen saver. Soon the children were on the phone with grandma. “Grandma! Guess what! We’re having twins!!” “Oh you are? How do you know that?” “Because mom’s been looking at a picture of twins and then she got pregnant!” “Hum, well, we’ll see,” grandma replied doubtfully. An early ultra-sound in December revealed what appeared to be two sacs, but the midwife told Jannice that the one could be her bladder. We all knew better, but we waited until further verification in February, when the ultra-sound clearly showed two babies. The test wasn’t even over before two girls were on two phones quickly spreading the news to the community. The whole thing seems too crazy to be true, but when you look at the “Vision” picture that was Jannice’s screen saver, and compare it to the “real” picture of Keren Rose and Caleb Courage, born July 29, 2010, it’s amazing how much they resemble! Coincidence you may think. I don’t really believe in that stuff? Well, ye of little faith, there’s more! Six weeks before our twins were born, they were both breech. We did not want to have to endure a C-section for their birth, but realized they were getting bigger and it was getting more crowded in there. How could we get them to turn? “You know what the problem is?” Dale asked Jannice. “You’ve been looking at that picture right side up all these months,” he continued. “Hum. I guess that’s true,” Jannice replied thinking “What could it hurt to try?” So, you guessed it, we turned the photo upside down and at the next appointment Keren was head down. We were ½ way there. The following week they were both head down! We were able to have our full term birth without surgery. No wonder God reiterates three times that His law is as frontlets between our eyes! There is a power to what we keep in front of us. It shapes us and our future more than we realize. Because God allowed the death of the first pregnancy, Jannice was able to go on a trip of a lifetime to Israel in April with Dale, Amber, Ben, John, and her parents. If that first baby had lived, it would have been only 2 months old, and the trip to Israel and all the touring would not have been possible. Also, we were expecting the twins before the other child would have been born. We couldn’t have had both. Jannice questioned if God gave her the dream in anticipation of the blessing, or if the dream and prayer with visualization caused God to grant her the desire. It works both ways really. Remember Joseph, the “dreamer”? God could have given him a nightmare. God could have shown him how he’d be thrown into a pit by his own brothers and sold into slavery in a foreign country. His dream could have included being thrown into prison and forgotten about for years while his beloved father thought him dead. Yet that isn’t what God showed him is it? God gave Joseph a dream of the end result. Joseph saw himself as a ruler with is brothers and even his father bowing down to him. The dream God gave Joseph was so incredible that it was almost unbelievable. Yet, it was the dream that kept Joseph going during the dreadful and difficult circumstances that lead to the results. Similarly, Jannice in her pregnancy with the twins faced set backs and difficulties. Whenever there is a Vision or dream, there are always unforeseen difficulties. One can get caught up in the challenges, or keep their eye on the dream and goal and get past the “speed bumps” of life. What we focus on is up to us. What is your wildest dream? Does your family have a Vision? Why aren’t you pursuing it? Is it a worthwhile, morally sound desire? How do you know God himself isn’t the one who placed that desire there? Have you lost the Vision for your future or your family? Or perhaps you’ve achieved them all. Well, if you’ve done everything you were set here to do, why are you still here? Ponder your own heart and seek God if you’ve lost your dreams, and consider what the Lord might have for you. If you’ve got a dream, put it in front of you! What can it hurt to risk a little ridicule and pursue your dream? What if I put my dreams in front of me and they don’t come true? Well then, I lost a little time dreaming. What if you don’t put your dreams in front of you and they could have come true? What do you stand to loose? The bottom line is this, if you try it and it doesn’t work, all you lost was a little time! If it works and you don’t try it, you lost your Vision! And with out vision our people perish! We would like to sincerely thank our Lord Jesus Christ for allowing us this fun and inspiring reminder of His goodness and grace! May the Lord grant you faith to believe in His perfect will for your life! Keep us updated as the adventure continues in your life. We’d love to here your stories of how God’s working His will in you! -The Schamel Family He's the Widow's Might!!! 04/22/2009
